A complex and delicate coffee from the Ngaratua Estate in Embu, Kenya. We visited Purity Muthathai in 2025 and have been buying her coffee since. Expect a bright, layered and fruity cup from this washed SL28. Notes of stone fruit, oolong and raspberry.

Peterson and Purity continue a family farming legacy at Ngaratua Estate in Kenya’s Embu region.

Ngaratua Estate is a 18ha family farm in Embu which is owned and managed by Peterson Muthathai and his wife Purity. We first met them on a cupping trip in 2025 where their coffee really stood out. We visited the estate the next day and were impressed with the terroir and farm management. At 1600 masl, the farm benefits from cool temperatures and steady rainfall. The cherries mature slowly leading to dense beans with complex flavors. Peterson and Purity mostly grow SL28 trees but they graft them with Ruiru 11 cuttings. The cherries are pulped and washed on site. In this bright and layered cup, we taste stonefruit, oolong and raspberry.

We ship every weekday with DHL Parcel (EU) and DHL Express (worldwide). Orders received before 7AM ship the same day. The shipping time varies per destination.

The coffee we ship is usually roasted no longer than a week ago, but can be up to 2 weeks maximum. We recommend to rest our coffees 2-4 weeks after roasting as they gain more intensity and complexity.

Our subscriptions are flexible. You can change or cancel at any time. Log into your account, go to the Account tab and choose Manage my subscription.

Throughout the year, we release different microlots on our series. Your subscription price will automatically adapt to the new release. As a subscriber you always benefit from a 5% discount.

After roasting we pack and seal our coffee bags immediately. When you order ground coffee, be aware that the bag will be opened, so our team can grind your coffee. Pay attention when choosing your grind size as we do not accept returns for wrong grind size selection.
