Frequently asked questions

Should I use the regular or inverted method?

Both can deliver a great brew. The inverted method is a full immersion method and hence gives you more control over the steep time. It can bring more body and sweetness. The regular method is halfway between drip and immersion. It involves less handlings and is hence easier as a beginner.

How much pressure should I use when pressing?

Press gently at a steady pace and in an vertical position. If it’s very hard to press, your grind might be too fine. If it goes down too easily, your grind may be too coarse. It should take around 20–30 seconds to press fully.

Do I need to stir during the steep?

Stirring helps evenly extract the coffee particles by ensuring all grounds are saturated. Most recipes include stirring, especially right after adding water. If your brew tastes uneven or sour (= underextraction), try stirring a bit more.
