Finca Rosma

Finca Rosma’s story begins with Fredy Morales’s father, who purchased the land in the 1960s and laid the foundations for the farm’s future. When Fredy took over in 1980, he renamed it after his wife and continued building on the family’s legacy with a focus on quality and community. His approach to farming is practical, hands-on and rooted in the belief that good coffee comes from consistent care rather than shortcuts. Over time, his son Alejandro Jr. joined him, forming a multigenerational partnership that combines experience with renewed energy. We began working with Fredy because his values align with our own: transparency, long-term relationships and dedication to producing coffees that reflect their origin.

High-altitude Huehuetenango offers warm days, cool nights and stable winds that shape Rosma’s sweet, balanced and distinctly fruity coffees.

Finca Rosma sits in the mountains of Huehuetenango at around 1850 masl, an altitude made possible by the region’s unique meeting of warm and cool air currents. This climate protects coffee plants from frost and encourages slow, even cherry development. The farm cultivates several varieties, with Gesha standing out for its delicate structure and clear expression of the site’s character. Fredy manages the entire process on the farm, from selective handpicking to his careful washed method, which includes close monitoring of fermentation to achieve consistency. Beyond his own fields, he supports neighbouring farmers through Rosma’s nursery, credit programmes and technical guidance, as well as contributing to community initiatives such as on-farm childcare during harvest. His work strengthens both the quality of local production and the stability of the wider community, making Finca Rosma a vital reference point in this part of Huehuetenango.
