The OREA O1 is a compact flat-bottom brewer designed for a fast and even flow. It produces bright, sweet and complex cups, making it a great choice for exploring vibrant and fruity coffees. The recipe in this video uses Sibarist Fast Wave filters, but it can be adapted to other wave-style filters. Use it as a starting point and adjust the variables according to your coffee and taste.
Frequently asked questions
What grind size should I use for the OREA O1?
Start with a medium-fine grind, around 16–18 clicks on a Comandante grinder. Aim for a total brew time between 2:20 and 2:40. If the water flows through too quickly, grind finer. If the brew takes too long, grind coarser.
Which filters can I use with the OREA O1?
We use Sibarist Fast Wave filters for their fast flow and clean results. Other wave-style filters like Kalita 155 can also work, but they may change the flow rate and extraction. You might need to adjust your grind size or pouring technique accordingly.
Does water quality matter?
Yes. Filtered water is essential for bringing out the best in your coffee. For this recipe, we recommend using filtered water at 93°C. Water quality and temperature both influence extraction, so you can make small adjustments depending on the coffee you are brewing.
